Theodore Roosevelt was a man of integrity, as well as a verbose and prolific writer. Several of his works deserve a place on this list. This one, which offers a glimpse into hunting the Americas before they were tamed, is one of my favorites.

Exciting bow hunting and archery news from Bushmen Safaris in South Africa
1. Upper Body Strength:
Repeated drawing and firing of a bow develops the major muscle groups of the upper body.
What type of bow should I bring and what draw weight should I use?
For plains game hunting, you should bring your normal big game set up you would use for whitetail, elk or any other type deer. We have archers who use compound, re-curve, and long bow as well as crossbows. The most important aspect of your hunt will be that you are familiar with your bow and equipment as well as African Game shot placement.
Bow hunters are a different breed: the kind that relishes the challenges of an up-close, high-stealth hunt, with all the frustrations and elation that entails. But that’s not the only thing that sets bow hunters apart from their gun-toting brethren.
Bushmen Safaris is a 22,000-acre wildlife conservancy in South Africa that has been archery-only since 1986. One of the biggest factors that sets Bushmen apart from the competition is the fact that we only take one group of clients per month during our annual seven months of hunting. By hunting this way, we are able to not only lower our hunting pressure on the animals but increases our clients' success substantially. Bushmen Safaris Hunters have taken 12 World Records, 63 Top 5 placings, 115 Top 10 placings, and 335 Top 25 placings. Bushmen's hunters continue to take high-scoring trophies as a result of this limited hunting pressure. The exceptional hunting experience at Bushmen Safaris brings back hunters’ year-after-year as we have an 80% record for return bow hunters over the past 15 years.
1. Respect for Nature. There is nothing like arriving to your tree stand in the dark and waiting for the sun to rise. You develop a love and respect for nature that will grab a hold of you and keep you coming back over and over again. Cherish the beauty of all of God’s creations and learn to appreciate those smells, sights and sounds. Begin to understand – in a very real way – the circle of life, the cycle of the seasons, and how fragile, yet substantial, our ecosystems are.
