Cape Buffalo Hunts in South Africa

Hunting Cape buffalo is one of the most popular of all the game hunting adventures in Africa and it is one of many species available to hunt at the Bushmen Safaris wildlife conservancy in South Africa.

The Cape Buffalo also known as African Buffalo or affalo is a large African bovid. It is not closely related to the slightly larger wild Asian water buffalo and its ancestry remains unclear. Owing to its unpredictable nature which makes it highly dangerous to humans, it has not been domesticated, unlike its Asian counterpart, the domestic Asian water buffalo. The Cape buffalo can appear to be docile in the herd but they can be very aggressive and cunning when feeling threatened, agitated or wounded and have been reported to ambush and attack pursuers. The Cape Buffalo can weigh up to 1800 pounds, these bovines are a formidable sight when charging in your direction and their horns are extremely dangerous in close contact. The Cape buffalo has distinct horns, which is the fused base that forms a continuous shield of horn across the top of the head known as a “boss.”
